Ankara hopes that the US Congress will start ratifying the sale of F-16 fighter jets
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed hope that the US Congress will start ratifying the deal to sell F-16 fighter jets to Ankara.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Turkey fulfilled its obligations in this context, in particular, it ratified the membership of Sweden and Finland to NATO.
"There is a two-week waiting period after the documents are submitted to Congress. Therefore, I am sure that after two weeks, that is, until next Saturday, the process will be completed," he said.
According to Turkey's foreign minister, the US used the purchase of "С-400" anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia as an excuse to leave Turkey out of the "F-35" state-of-the-art fighter jet production program.
