The issue of Artsakh has nothing to do with the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Artsakh NA Deputy
When we look at the history of our people, it can be said that it is a chain of victories and defeats: unfortunately, Artsakh's national liberation struggle also had such a course. According to "News.am", Vice President of the National Assembly of the Artsakh Republic Vahram Balayan said this today, on February 20, in a briefing with journalists at the Artsakh representation in the Republic of Armenia.
"Under the influence of many factors, we could not keep and protect what we have. In general, history is not only a lesson, but also a punishment for those who do not heed the lessons of history. Unfortunately, we did not take into account the lessons we learned, we could not preserve our statehood.
Artsakh, the page of our history is not yet closed, every generation should contribute to the preservation of the country and statehood. It is true that today we are in a disappointed and broken state, but we need to use the available opportunities and strengthen Armenia, and in the context of all that, try to continue our struggle and liberate a part of our historical homeland," he said.
According to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Artsakh, the issue of Artsakh has nothing to do with the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. "We self-determined on our territory. Here it is important to note that we had no ambitions for any country or people's territories. We had an autonomous region of Nagorno-Karabakh during the Soviet period, and it had a certain status within the Soviet Union, just like Soviet Azerbaijan had. Moreover, the autonomous region of Nagorno Karabakh also had a Constitution, where it is written that the official, state language is Armenian. From a legal point of view, there is no problem, talking today that there should be self-determination on the territory of Azerbaijan, there is no such thing, it is unacceptable," Balayan stressed.
It should be noted that the National Assembly of Artsakh convened a session at the RA representative office.
Let us remind that today marks the 36th anniversary of the Artsakh movement.
