Marukyan published facts about the events of Khojaly, referring to the interview of the 1st president of Azerbaijan
Edmon Marukyan, RA ambassador with special assignments, published the original interview of Ayaz Mutalibov, the first president of Azerbaijan, published in 1992 in "Nezavisimaya Gazeta" on his X microblog.
In particular, he wrote: "Now I am publishing the original interview of Ayaz Mutalibov, the first president of Azerbaijan, published in 1992 in Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
Ayaz Mutalibov, the first president of Azerbaijan, stated that "the attack on Khojaly(Ivanyan - ed.) was not a surprise attack." In a 1992 interview with the Russian "Nezavisimaya Gazeta" newspaper, he emphasized that "the Armenians kept the corridor open for people to leave." However, a convoy of civilians was shot by the armed units of the People's Front of Azerbaijan near the border of Aghdam (Akna - ed.) region, which was later confirmed by Ayaz Mutalibov, who connected this criminal act with the opposition's attempts to remove him from power and blamed the incident entirely on his opponents. In his interview with the Russian magazine "Novoye Vremya", Mutalibov stated that "the shooting of the residents of Khojaly was clearly organized by someone to take control of Azerbaijan".
