Prior to signing the peace treaty, Armenia offers to sign a bilateral arms control system and a non-aggression pact. Mirzoyan

The security situation in the South Caucasus remains unstable because Azerbaijan does not abandon its aggressive policy towards the Republic of Armenia. RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan announced this while speaking at the high-level segment of the Disarmament Forum.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan continues to present new territorial demands to the Republic of Armenia, backing away from the previously agreed principles of establishing peace and security in our region. "In particular, the principle of respecting each other's territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991 and the implementation of the demarcation process in order to restore the 1991 border have been consistently rejected by Azerbaijan.

However, the Government of Armenia continues its genuine efforts to establish peace and stability in our region, as well as trust and faith between Armenia and Azerbaijan. For this purpose, we have proposed the simultaneous withdrawal of troops from the Armenia-Azerbaijan interstate border with further demilitarization of the border areas.

Armenia also offers to sign a bilateral arms control mechanism and a non-aggression pact ahead of the peace treaty, if signing the latter requires additional time to reach a consensus. Despite the fact that all these proposals have so far been ignored or rejected by Azerbaijan, we are determined to continue our efforts," he said.
