The Turkey-Armenia settlement has become a prisoner of the wayward policy of the ruling regime in Azerbaijan. expert

Armen Petrosyan, an expert on regional issues, in a conversation with the Turkish "BirGün" periodical, also commented on the current round of the Turkey-Armenia settlement process for the audience of that country.

"The only obstacle to the normalization of Turkey-Armenia relations is Ankara's political priorities, presenting the precondition of Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization as an inseparable component of relations with Armenia.

And this resolution is a dead end, because, as I already mentioned, Azerbaijan does not want to regulate relations with Armenia in any way, constantly advancing such demands that are incompatible with Armenia's strategic interests. We are talking, for example, about the ambitions for the entire territory of Armenia under the wording "Western Azerbaijan", the demand for a road in a corridor format, the talks about "enclaves", Armenian legislation, etc.

Therefore, it is clear that the Turkey-Armenia settlement, but especially Turkey's South Caucasus policy, have become a prisoner of the wayward policy of the ruling regime in Azerbaijan, thus limiting Ankara's political opportunities, becoming the cause of strategic losses in such an important period. Because the settlement of relations with Armenia will definitely further expand the possibility of Turkey's participation in the new round of the race to fill the vacuum of influence in the South Caucasus region, from which Ankara seems to have been left out.
