Expecting global results from the negotiations is not very encouraging. Seyran Ohanyan

"In general, any negotiation is more acceptable than war operations. Based on our experience, when the negotiation process failed, generally starting in 2018, we faced war in 2020. In that sense, any communication is important," Seyran Ohanyan, head of the "Armenia" faction, said at a parliamentary briefing, addressing the question of whether Germany's mediation could be effective.

"They agreed to express themselves in ceremonial words and to continue the negotiations. It is not clear what the principles are and the order of the questions," said the deputy.

Referring to the mediation, he noted that the authorities of Azerbaijan, on the one hand, constantly insist that a mediator is not needed, thus trying to put pressure on the RA government, and on the other hand, they very cunningly use both the Western and post-Soviet platform to put their interests before to take

"I think that, of course, we have friendly countries on the Western platform, but no country has such great opportunities to support us on the ground, except for the observation mission. I think expecting global results from these negotiations is not very encouraging," said Ohanyan.

On February 28-29, the negotiations between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeihun Bayramov took place in Berlin, the capital of Germany.

The ministers and their delegations discussed the points of view of the provisions of the draft bilateral agreement "On establishment of peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan". Mutual agreement was expressed to continue negotiations on open issues.

During the visit, the ministers had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Annalena Berbock, in both bilateral and trilateral formats.

Ararat Mirzoyan thanked Germany for hosting the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
