Europe has real interests with Azerbaijan. Tatevik Hayrapetyan
While we are playing a pro-Russian-pro-European game, Azerbaijan is deepening its partnership relations with the EU. Tatevik Hayrapetyan, candidate of historical sciences, expert on Azerbaijan issues, wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
"If, on the one hand, the European Parliament adopts a non-binding resolution, criticizing Azerbaijan, on the other hand, EU Commissioner for Energy Affairs Kadri Simson goes to Baku, sits next to dictator Aliyev and announces: "Today, gas flows from the Southern Gas Corridor to Europe are 46% more than in 2021. In 2023, the EU received almost 11 billion cubic meters of gas supplies from Azerbaijan. And here, an increasing number of EU member states and expanding countries are interested in receiving gas from Azerbaijan. As I said last year, you are becoming a pan-European supplier.
We expect that the gas pipeline from Azerbaijan will play an important role in the European energy system during our energy transition. Faced with escalating Russian violence and an unjustified war on our doorstep, it is becoming increasingly clear that there will be no return to business as usual for Europe in its energy relationship with Russia. That space is now being filled by other trusted and reliable energy partners. And that's exactly what we found in Azerbaijan."
In other words, they don't buy gas from Russia because they initiated a war and are not democratic, but they gladly buy from Azerbaijan, which has done the same things, also carried out forced deportation and ethnic cleansing. The unique thing here is that they actually buy Russian gas, because Azerbaijan does not have such reserves, that's why everyone is happy about this deal. Europe has real interests with Azerbaijan, they are not interested in human rights or anything else, but that is natural and not surprising.
The unnatural thing is that false and useless discourses about Russia and the West continue to unfold in our society. Usually they unite for interests and around them, the RA authorities have no formulated interests, no agenda, no meaningful work, and in that case you are much more vulnerable and in a worse situation, and your only occupation remains to keep the public busy with meaningless pro-Russian-pro-European games. wrote the Azeri expert.
