Iran assumed the presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN Office in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, assumed the presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament. According to "Detq", the information was reported by the Iranian "ParsToday" news agency.

It is reported that during the first meeting of the conference, the Iranian ambassador in Geneva presented Iran's plans during his presidency. He stressed that Iran, a peace-loving and anti-war and anti-violence country, will strive for international peace and security through the elimination of weapons of mass destruction, especially nuclear weapons.

Bahraini said that during its presidency of the disarmament conference, Iran will strive to fulfill the obligations of nuclear weapons owners, the complete, irreversible and verifiable destruction of nuclear weapons, the cessation of the nuclear arms race, and the creation of a West Asian region free of weapons of mass destruction. According to him, Tehran attaches importance to providing security guarantees to non-nuclear states, banning arms race in space, etc.

Iran's permanent representative at the UN Geneva office also condemned Israel's continuous aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip.
