The people of Tavush opened the road, expecting a meeting with the deputy prime minister

The residents of Tavush, who closed the Kirants village section of the road leading to Georgia since early morning, are opening the road. According to the head of the village of Kirants, it was agreed that on Monday he will meet with the deputy prime minister, chairman of the border demarcation commission Mher Grigoryan, "Azatutyun" reports.

The villagers said that they will not come to Yerevan and expect that the officials will arrive in Tavush and answer their questions.

The closed road caused a big traffic jam in this section, cars bypassed the road through Ajarakut.

Governor of Tavush Hayk Ghalumyan and Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan had earlier met and talked with the residents, but the citizens refused to open the road, claiming that demarcation in this area is a unilateral concession from the Armenian side.

They were concerned, stating that "they are not given any guarantee of safety, they do not believe the words of the authorities, they are not going to clear the road."

It was reported yesterday that Armenia agreed to return the villages demanded by Azerbaijan in the Tavush sector, without receiving the Armenian territories in front of Berkaber, which are now under the control of Azerbaijan. And the section of the interstate road adjacent to Voskepar will not be demarcated at this stage, that is, it will remain under Armenian control.

"Azatutyun" was criticized yesterday from Voskepar, that the official statements contradict what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said two days ago in their village.
