
Massacre of Voskepar
On the night of May 5-6, 1991, the divisions of the 4th army of the Soviet troops stationed in the territory of Soviet Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani OMON, using helicopters, tanks and heavy artillery, closed the entrances to the village of Voskepar in the Noyemberyan region of Soviet Armenia and entered the village. The units of the Soviet army and Azerbaijani OMON that entered the village blew up 1 car, killing 2 and seriously injuring 7 civilians.
After learning about what happened in Voskepar, 20 policemen of Noyemberyan region's internal affairs department and 3 civilian companions tried to enter the village through the forest to protect the residents. 11 of them were brutally killed, and the others were captured and taken to the prison of the city of Kirovabad (Gandzak) in the Azerbaijan SSR, where 3 of them died. The units of the Soviet troops captured and handed over 45 policemen who were in the village and protecting the settlement to the Azerbaijani OMON, who were also tortured in the Azerbaijani prison.
On May 8, 3 more civilians of Voskepar village were killed by the shelling of the Soviet army.
