The Police is used for political reprisals against the Church. Tatoyan

Former RA human rights defender Arman Tatoyan writes."The current government uses the Police for its political interests to target the Armenian Apostolic Church, discredits the Police and thereby weakens the security of the state.

The Holy Armenian Apostolic Church is an important component of the state's security and has a constitutional status. This is even written in 2020. In the national security strategy.

In its turn, the Police is one of the pillars that ensure the security and law and order of the state.

First of all, targeting the Church as a structure and clergy weakens the state, divides the society, and provokes internal enmity both in Armenia and in the Diaspora.
This campaign is directly organized and carried out by today's government, because its political interest requires it; it is a way to maintain power and positions. In other words, the Police is used for political retaliation against the church.
All of this understandably causes indignation, insults and negative attitude towards the policemen in society, which in turn makes the Police aggressive towards people who show such attitude.

At the same time, an aggressive attitude towards these people also arises among the part of the society who are supporters of the government, victims of the government's propaganda or have a different attitude towards the Apostolic Church. All this is fraught with unpredictable dangerous consequences.
It turns out that the political government weakens the pillars of security and strength of our state, the Police and the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, for the sake of its interests, as well as creates intolerance in society, incites internal enmity, deepening tension and division.
