Candidate of historical sciences, internationalist Sergey Melkonyan writes in the Telegram channel:"Nikol Pashinyan, who is still sitting on the chair of the Prime Minister of Armenia, announced that in 1996 According to the Lisbon declaration, Nagorno-Karabakh was to receive the highest autonomy within Azerbaijan. And that means that his political godfather Levon Ter-Petrosyan already signed the surrender of Artsakh at that time.

I will not delve into the history, showing the evolution of the 20-year negotiation process during the "former" era. I will only take two important quotes from recent years (I wrote about it exactly one year ago in June 2023).

1. Joseph Borrell. "For the first time, the head of Armenia unequivocally recognized Nagorno-Karabakh under the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. This is unprecedented."

In other words, the European side notes that Nikol's statement that Armenia recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan is unprecedented. It means that no one agreed to such a thing before Nikol. Other "intellectual" exercises are speculations and manipulations.

2. Ilham Aliyev. "Behind closed doors, pressure is being exerted on Baku to force an agreement on the recognition of the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh."

In other words, the previous negotiation processes took place with the logic of putting pressure on Azerbaijan for the purpose of concessions, not on Armenia, as is happening today. This is the indicator of yesterday's and today's level of Armenia."
