We expect your involvement in the regulation of Yerevan-Baku relations. Lili Minasyan in the OSCE PA
Lili Minasyan, a member of the RA NA "Civil Contract" faction, speaking at the session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Political and Security Affairs, said: "Let me tell you about the latest developments in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
In April this year, Armenia and the Republic of Baku (ed.) finally started the border delimitation process based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, which was welcomed by various countries and international organizations, including the European Union.
The Republic of Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity and inviolability of borders of all its neighbors. Armenia and the Republic of Baku (ed.) agreed at the highest level that they mutually recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty based on the Alma-Ata Declaration. Armenia is committed to this principle and has no ambition beyond its internationally recognized 29,743 square kilometers. The Republic of Armenia has proven this approach in practice with the initiative to demarcate borders in four villages of Gazakh and Tavush regions of the Republic of Baku (ed.).
For the first time during the period of independent statehood, the 12 km territory of the Armenia-Baku Republic (ed.) border is demarcated. In parallel, the parties agreed to complete the harmonization of the draft regulations of the border security commission between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Baku (ed.) on the demarcation of the state border in the next few days.
We hope that the demarcation process along the entire border will be continuous and all problematic issues will be resolved through peaceful negotiations.
Since it is the will of Armenia not to allow tension to arise, we have officially proposed to Baku to establish a bilateral mechanism for investigating cases of violations of the ceasefire regime.
We hope that this initiative will receive a positive response from Baku's partners.
Dear Colleagues,
Armenia reaffirms its commitment to long lasting peace in the South Caucasus based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity, demarcation of the state border in accordance with the Alma-Ata Declaration, as well as unblocking communications under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of both states, based on the principles of equality and reciprocity.
We believe that the OSCE has an important role in contributing to the democratic security of Europe. We appreciate your contribution to the peace and stability of the region and expect your continued involvement in the normalization of Armenia-Baku Republic (ed.) relations.
Thank you."
