Parallel to all this, the President of Azerbaijan has stated that he does not see any obstacles to signing a peace treaty with Armenia. He said that Azerbaijan "supports the regional peace agenda, is ready for a dialogue with Armenia for the signing of a peace treaty and the regulation of relations between the two countries".

In a conversation with 168.am, Tatevik Hayrapetyan, an expert on Azerbaijan issues, referring to Azerbaijan's proposal and Aliyev's statement, expressed his belief that the leader of Azerbaijan will not sign any papers with Armenia at this stage.

"He will not sign such a document by which he will recognize the territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of Armenia. To avoid all that, Azerbaijan is starting a new process, the so-called direct dialogue with Armenia. If Azerbaijan was interested in direct dialogue from the beginning, then why did it negotiate in Brussels, Washington, and sometimes in Moscow for 2-3 years? This shows that the thesis about the peace process put into circulation by Azerbaijan has already exhausted itself. As a result of that process, Azerbaijan achieved what it needed at this stage, which was to establish full control over Nagorno-Karabakh, which happened both militarily and as a result of Pashinyan's political statements," said Tatevik Hayrapetyan.

According to the expert, now Azerbaijan is moving to the next stage, the start of a new process, that is the direct dialogues, they do not need any mediators, they will go sit on the border and talk.
