In this year's "Oscar" award for "Best Short Documentary", the film "The Last Repaired Store" has an episode about the Armenians who lived in Baku, Sputnik Armenia reports.

The action of the film takes place in Los Angeles. It tells the story of Steve Baghmanyan, the manager of the student musical instrument repair shop. He was born and raised in Baku, but in 1987-88 then repressions and pogroms against local Armenians began in Azerbaijan.

"Every day it became more dangerous and people were afraid to live there. My father was an optimist, he said: I will not go anywhere, I have not done anything bad to anyone, so that they would upset us. He was killed at the workplace," says the hero of the film, unable to hide his excitement.

The film is directed by Ben Proudfoot and Chris Bowers.

As of February 16, 2024, the film has been shown over 700 times in the United States and Canada.
