The Israeli police started an illegal eviction from the "Cow Garden" estate of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, destroying the property of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem and attacking the clergy and local Armenians. According to "Detq", the diplomat of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem Agan Gogchyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.

The eviction was reportedly led by an officer named Assaf Harel.

"When a group of officers was asked to submit a license to forcefully relocate, evict, and destroy the property of Armenian clergymen and local Armenians, they did not submit any privilege or court order and continued to protect and support the representatives of "Xana Gardens" to destroy the property of the Armenian Patriarchate. During the attempt to stop the illegal activities, several police officers continuously stated that they came with a license, but never presented the said license and said: "We are here to protect the rights of Xana Gardens workers."

The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem is one of the Guardians of the Holy Land and oversees one of the four districts of Jerusalem. We expect full due process, as allegedly given to everyone in Jerusalem, and demand answers from the Israeli police and the Israeli government for their involvement in today's events," the statement said.

The diplomat of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem also noted that it is indisputable that today's provocations are attempts to create a precedent against the Armenian neighborhood and its legal lands. "We must continue to stand firm in our positions and call the attention of Christians all over the world to these endless attacks on the peaceful Armenian Christian community," he emphasized.

The patriarchate leased a part of the Armenian quarter of the old city of Jerusalem to an Israeli company for 99 years. As a result of the transaction, a worrying situation was created in the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, in connection with which H.H. Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II had a telephone conversation with the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem His Holiness Fr. Nurhan with Archbishop Manukyan. During the discussion, the Patriarch informed His Holiness that steps are being taken to protect the rights of the Patriarchate and resolve the issue in a positive way. In relation to the created situation, the Armenian community of Jerusalem organized several protest demonstrations.
