Threats against Azerbaijan will be suppressed immediately and strictly. Hadjizadeh

Threats against Azerbaijan will be immediately and strictly repressed, said Aykhan Hajizadeh, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, responding to the statement of the diplomatic department of Armenia.

"To prove that Armenia is serious about the peace process, it should refrain from contradictory statements and provocative steps, as well as respect the principles and norms of international law," Hajizade said, calling Yerevan's accusations that Baku is escalating the situation "unacceptable".

The Azerbaijani official again mentioned Armenian laws, asserting that "the demands regarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan in the Constitution of Armenia, as well as in a number of legislative acts, and the existence of attempts at revenge show the scale of the threats against our country by Armenia."

In the statement, Baku expresses its belief that "when Armenia develops its military potential, there is no doubt that efforts to acquire additional military power for the latter will create conditions for it to become a new source of tension and threats."

"The fact that the Armenian side, which does not respect Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, is now voicing frivolous ideas, such as arms control and a non-aggression pact, is a political speculation," said the representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
