The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, assured the latter that the latest actions of the Iranian side against Israel were forced. According to "Detq", the information is reported by the Iranian state news agency IRNA.

It is reported that the parties discussed in detail the deterioration of the situation in the Middle East after the Israeli airstrike on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus and Iran's response.

In this context, Putin expressed hope that all parties will show reasonable restraint and will not allow a new round of confrontation, which will be fraught with disastrous consequences for the entire region. Raisi, for his part, noted that Iran's actions were coercive and limited in nature, stressing that Tehran is not interested in further escalation of tensions.

It is noted that both sides have noted that the main reason for the events taking place in the Middle East is the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In this regard, the principled approaches of Russia and Iran regarding the creation of conditions for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, alleviation of the difficult humanitarian situation and political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis were confirmed.

Let's remind that 13 days after the airstrike on the Iranian Consulate General in Damascus on April 1, on the night of April 13-14, Iran attacked the territory of Israel.
