Baku condemned the statement of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture of the Council of Europe

Official Baku condemned yesterday's statement of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture of the Council of Europe.

Press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Baku Aykhan Hajizade said that yesterday's "unprecedented public statement of the committee against Baku causes deep regret".

"The committee made an unprecedented decision to fully publish the report on the results of the 2022 special visit without the consent of the Republic of Baku (ed.). This approach is unfair and unreasonable, and also raises questions from a legal point of view," Hajizadeh stated.

It should be noted that Baku refused to cooperate with the Committee for the Prevention of Torture of the Council of Europe. The official structure of Baku called that step a violation of the European Convention on the Prevention of Torture by the latter.
